i saw more than a few Tweets last nite proclaiming that Mo’Nique was somehow not humble enough and i can’t c it…

have you SEEN her Barbara Walters special??? her SHOW???

now, according to @XemVanAdams, there was some commotion in the press room after the awards in which @TheMoniqueShow wanted to answer questions from the Black press first, and that she was a bit rude about it… he later went on to say that her reasoning was because the Black press core were the people that wanted to interview her when no one else did.

you are welcome on my show ANY TIME! word.

since i haven’t seen the footage in question, i can’t say one way or the other just how rude or right she actually may have been, but i WILL say this: stop hatin’ on Mo’Nique, folx. she deserved the award and she deserves our respect.

in a world where, only 12 Black actors and actresses have won Oscars since 1939, we should be applauding all of those that have made a contribution to Academy Awards history.  it took quite a long time for us to get to the point where we are represented on screen in all shades of light, and not just being portrayed as street hustlers, pimps and ho’s and drug addicts. we are now doctors and lawyers, officers and gentlemen, artists and thinkers… we’re even Presidents!

actually, we’ve always been all of these things and even greater. it’s just nice to watch others finally come around and learn wut we have always known…

we are large. we contain multitudes.

i congratulate Mo’Nique on her success, and hope that one day i will stand in her shoes…

i mean, the fact that Vogue magazine, the fashion world’s PREEMINENT bible of all things hot, is takin out a moment to focus on Black fashionistos and fashionistas is FAB-U-LOUS!!!

but…

the fact that we have to be relegated to a page or two on the Vogue website, instead of being the timeless piece that holds the fashion universe’s closet together, still kinda sucks…

there are those that may think that being considered at all for a place in catwalk history is the bee’s knees, but the truth is, we ARE fashion!!!
