It’s that time again…
Time for rapper Mad Skillz out of VA to bring us his much-anticipated version of the wrap-up of the previous year, his annual Rap Up song. He’s been at it for years and it’s long been a jewel that we in the Hip Hop community await as an unofficial beginning to the year ahead. You can download the song from iTunes and rock out to it for the next 364 days (it’s a Leap Year, remember?)
Also jumping into the Rap-Up fray this year is Bekay, a Slaughterhouse member and generally wild-out white rapper… His version touched on many of the same subjects as Skillz (Anthony Weiner, Casey Anthony, Penn State) including just a bit more elaboration on a few others…
I am definitely feeling Skillz version better, although Bekay’s version pointed out to me the lack of clever turns of phrase in Skills’ version… I dunno, I hear there are even more 2011 Rap-Up knock-offs out there so I guess time will tell who’s really is better. Being as though Skills is the father of the year in review rhymes, though, I doubt he’ll be unseated in the next 53 weeks… (it’s a Leap Year, remember???)
Download Skillz’s version on iTunes…

So… There you have it… Who do you think gave us the best Rap Up?
