if you’ve been paying attention, then you know that this is the most sought after blog post to date. why? well if your asking why, then you weren’t paying attention!!! anywho, today begins the first ever WWTF Radio Biggest Fan Contest! for all of you that have been long-time listeners, and those who are new friends of the show, this is a HUGE deal!

again with the not listening?!?!?! because the winner gets to co-host the show with me for my birthday on Wednesday, September 15th!!! that’s right, one lucky fan will get to be on the show LIVE, talking to callers and cracking jokes with yours truly…

so. i bet you’re wondering how this works? of course you are or you wouldn’t be reading this…

well…

every day for the next week (today through Sunday) i will post a question pertaining to a past episode of the show. questions will post at 6PM EST daily on the Diva Bleu Facebook Fan Page (you can find a link to it in the sidebar on the left of this page). if you need to listen to the episode to get the answer (i would hope the super fan would know the answer without listening, but hey, the show is 3 years old) then click here and bookmark the link. once you know the answer, email me the response here with the word CONTEST in the subject line. the first 3 people daily with the correct answer enter the final round next week…

anywho, i wanted to touch base with the fans and let you know that i haven’t forgotten you, in fact, quite the contrary. I realize that i have some EXTRA AWESOME fans out there who have been down with WWTF Radio from the very beginning and i can’t thank you or love you enough!!! because of you, the show is not only still going strong, but ready to grow and branch out into other areas.

this has been the year from hell…

i’ve found myself taking 2 steps forward, 5 steps back and as of late, i have realized that i am not alone. my entire FaceBook timeline is filled with laments of friends who are fed up and sick and tired of being sick and tired…

and who wonders why? oil is STILL pouring into our oceans, our citizens (including yours truly) are unemployed and have been thrown off of Unemployment Insurance with no prospects of when OR if we will be receiving anymore benefits… THANK YOU REPUBLICANS!!!

our children are either overweight or malnourished… all of us are sleep deprived, walking around in a constant state of near-consciousness, always living in a cloud of stress…

and yet? not knowing how i will pay my bills, eat or continue my futile job search hasn’t made me lose my mind… just yet anyway. oh sure, the last few days have seen me consider everything from becoming a pole dance queen to hustlin random yahmean from a shopping cart but meh…

no matter wut, i have realized over the years that panicking doesn’t help. i’ve been in more sticky situations then i care to count and truthfully there isn’t one of us on this earth who isn’t only a heartbeat and a market crash away from the same thoughts… a year ago, i had a pretty good (albeit stressful) job, i was saving money and i was starting to really build my brand (google Diva Bleu or WWTF Radio and see wut happens!!!). now? i’m relying on the kindness of strangers and hoping for the Feds 2 find it in their Grinch-sized hearts to help us…

well. in the end, there are 2 thoughts that have gotten me through the last few weeks… well, clips really…

1) “It takes a tough man to make a tender forecast. Keep fucking that chicken.”

now this one is a clip of a newscaster saying the funniest phrase i’ve ever heard! (ok, i’ve said funnier stuff, but this isn’t about me.) but really people, even when you’re ready 2 throw in the towel? KEEP FUCKING THAT CHICKEN! see how inspirational it is???

2) “We know what we want. We know what we DON’T want. So get us what we want.”

ahhhh, The Backyardigans… best kids show that’s not REALLY a kids show EVER!!! while spending some QT with my niece and great-niece, we of course were subjected to every parent’s favorite channel, Nick Jr. and there, sandwiched between The Wonder Pets (CREEPY) and Yo Gabba Gabba (WEIRD), was this awesome nugget of wisdom…

so there you have it. little nuggets of wisdom for your times of trouble. like a bridge over troubled waters, i’m will go get laid.

so. last night on Adult Swim‘s Squidbillies, right after the latest BOONDOCKS episode (oh. how i ♥ that show…), there was an EXTREMELY funny episode in which Dan Halen, the town’s resident tycoon and crazy person, informs the townspeople that “Barack Hussein Obama is sneaking fluoride into your drinking water!”

why, you may ask???

but of course, “to sterilize your TESTICLES!!!”

i found it heeeeeeelarious.  apparently, some took to trying to decipher the hidden meanings and codes behind the episode…  on one forum, i found a lively debate as to the perils of drinking particular brands of bottled water as opposed to tap water.  doing a Google search yielded a Facebook “community page“ (WTF are those anyway???) in which i found my own comment from last night within the feed… i pretty much saw it as a spoof on the TeaBaggers, but u know…

mostly, the scene was just funny…

THIS IS HUGE 2 me…  Tyler Perry is currently in NY working on his adaptation of one of my FAVOURITE BOOKS by my ALL TIME FAVOURITE AUTHOR & POETESS, Ntozake Shange.  The book?  For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf.

people wonder why i write the way that i do, capitalizationally challenged…  choppy…  expressive to a fault…  it is because of Shange.  those who know me know that i have been a writer most of my life.  as far back as i can remember i was writing poems and typing away on my mother’s old Royal typewriter…  which i still own…

a cousin of mine who worked for Junior Scholastic (yes, the one’s who used to make those social studies magazines that you read in school) sent me a book that changed my life a little while after the passing of my mother; i was no more than 12 years old.  it was Shange’s novel Betsey Brown (which i also still own, tattered cover and all).  i still find a new piece of myself in the main character every time i read that book…

now, i have found out that a film adaptation of one of Shange’s other masterpieces is being done?  seriously ya’ll.  i’m in heaven…

apparently, Mariah Carey was slated to play a part in the film, i don’t know which part, however she has reportedly backed out of the project due to “doctor’s orders“.  hmmm… more on that later…

anywho, the cast list is stellar at this point and currently includes: Thandie Newton, Tessa Thompson, Michael Ealy, Hill Harper, Omari Hardwick, Richard Lawson, Janet Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, Loretta Devine, Anika Noni Rose, Kimberly Elise, Kerry Washington, Phylicia Rashad and Macy Gray.
