do i smell… BEEF?!?!?!
hmmmmm…
this story is still developing…
but apparently Joe Budden is in a HEATED battle with Wu-Tang. yes. ALL of them…
ok, try to follow along, it gets complicated, but i’ll try to lead u through it…
Back in May, Joe Budden apparently said that he wasn’t feelin’ VIBE’s Top 10 Rappers list. Meth was on that list… so he then goes on Ed Lover’s radio show, climbs into his bag and runs his mouth. He pretty much said Meth should, ahem, protect his neck…
Redman said a few words, Busta Rhymes weighed in as well, but the initial blow was struck by Budden, who believes he is better than most of the rappers on VIBE’s list…
So… Joe doesn’t stop there… he decides to throw a dis track in the game entitled Slaughterhouse… check it out for yourself, come to your own conclusion…
the dis comes in when he says: “Niggas is scared of the truth/They doing interludes in every interview talking about how they prepared to shoot/How thoughtful, won’t resort to getting near a booth/Thought so, what I do to them is unlawful, boss dude ain’t got a higher up to report to, just giving yourself a bad name/Yakety-yak them threats in fact it’s that lame/If you can’t tell that acts arranged/Think I’m wearing a bulls eye and just all them cats got bad aim/I’ll explain, I’m past real, niggas is past phony/Avoid the personal and physical attacks on me/I remain cool, relaxed homie/Brand new, I ain’t got a scratch on me/So what’s your squad gon’ do/Lay a hand on me, I’ll lay a hollow on you/Chain snatch, tap his pockets, take his wallet/Go through every club in New York and pop bottles on you…Got beat up, ignored in school/Signed a deal, niggas thought you was cool…Got all them years rapping, nothing else happening/You need a day to day, old heads, with no other way to get paid/They gasping, time-out go take a break from the clay and grab a Gatorade/A bad contract, team can’t make a trade/Majors fuckin’ you in the ass/You gonna stay a slave…Shit is fucked up and I blame it on the way it was paved/So I’ll chill for the sake of your age/You’re great live, but let me know when that stage get appraised.”
At some point, even N.O.R.E. put in his two cents saying, via SOHH.com:
“He’s entitled to his opinion,” Nore explained in an interview.
“Everybody’s entitled to their opinion but when you make your opinion public, it sometimes comes across as disrespect. And a lot of people could feel that way but what it is, is you’re entitled to your opinion as long as it’s not public because once it becomes public, it can become the wrong thing. I wasn’t mad at his opinion at all but when he made it public and when it comes across that’s why people really blew it up. He didn’t really say nothing disrespectful. But the fact that it’s in the public eye, the public now has the decision to whether to co-sign it or disregard it.”
Even LL Cool J says that he thinks, “Joe Budden has a right to feel how he feels. I think each individual has to make a decision and stand by that decision. So I can’t be mad a Joe for feeling that. I can’t be mad at Busta for feeling the way he feels…You can’t remain a child forever, we all have to grow up. Michael Jordan is not in the Finals this year, that’s just life. We gotta be willing to accept that. Sometimes a part of growing is knowing you’ll be criticized for certain things you leave behind. That just comes with the territory. But for me to pretend to be 24 year-old LL Cool J for the rest of my life, that’s not.”
I find that point of view interesting, in light of his age vs. youth battle a few years back with Canibus… i digress…
So then, Inspectah Deck get’s involved…
and here’s where it all goes to shit… some more, i mean… just a few days ago apparently, the Los Angeles stop of the “Rock The Bells” tour became ground zero for the beef. According to several reports, Raekwon (who was also there to perform) and five other members of his entourage approached Budden in his dressing room backstage where he had been vlogging live, and they had a some words. Allegedly, a member of Rae’s entourage sucka punched Budden in the eye. The altercation apparently didn’t last long and it’s not clear who busted up the action.
Mickey Factz corroborated Joe’s story of being outnumbered. “One of the six dudes did punch Joe, it was 6 vs. 2,” Factz says.
“Without me, it would’ve been 6 vs. 1. I think it was a sucker move. It looked like Joe barely felt it. [But] shit is crazy. Raekwon has the footage…Joe didn’t swing back, and no they didn’t laugh after the punch. Joe and Rae were going back and forth talking like men. How you going to have your man punch him and now you want to talk? And then you have the camera on? C’mon Rae.”
A short time later, Joe took to his vlog again and posted this:
I personally think that shit is funny… why start the shit if your gonna go bitchin’ to your fans on your vlog about the shit U STARTED??? hmmm…
Joe still maintains that, “This whole situation can go away with a square dance.”
Raekwon answers back yesterday with this message…
however, according to yoraps.com, Rae has not issued any “official” statement… although i think the video speaks for itself…
so what do you think??? i know this is all quite a tangled web, and when I started my research, I admit, I didn’t even know how far back this whole thing went or who may be involved, but it’s shaping up to be one great publicity run for the Wu and for Meth who released his album with Redman, Blackout 2, on May 19th of this year. The release is a follow up to the first Blackout album, a collaboration with Redman that started 10 years ago. It is also the first of two highly anticipated follow up albums out of the Wu camp this year, the second being Raekwon’s Only Built for Cuban Linx II to be released on September 8, 2009.
BTW… check out Inspectah Deck’s and Meth’s freestyle answers to the beef below, and take the poll to give your view on the ongoing story…
